One Island was a live-performance and installation work by the Ghost Bird Theatre Company and three visiting artists at the Wassmer Gallery in Fort Myers, Florida summer of 2022. A National Endowment for the Arts recipient, this piece sought to create a collaborative, non-hierarchical original work that conversed with isolation born of the pandemic, a deep need for physical intimacy, and struggle to find an agreed upon form of communication. Over five weeks the following creators reviewed two years worth of writing and acted as equal coconspirators and performers joined in the birth of this work: Xiaoyue Zhang, Carolina Vargas Romero, Philip Heubeck, Katelyn Gravel, Kimberly Campanello, James Brock, Juliana Morgan Alvarez
